Beast Wars PC Game review!

Availability: Should be able to find it at most computer game stores. May be packed in with Frogger.

Price: $19.99 US when ordered directly from Hasbro (Plus $4.99 Shipping and gunk). Bought on June 1st, 1998 in Toronto, Ontario for $32.99 at Electronics Boutique.

The game starts of with the Hasbro interactive logo flying around the screen. Next, you see scenes from the first two episodes of Beast Wars. The scenes don't have there original voices, propbably to avoid being sued. After that, you must choose your team. Maximal or Predacon. Six characters on each team. The maximals are: Optimus Primal, Cheetor, Dinobot, Rhinox, Rattrap and Airazor (Rescue mission). The Predacons are: Megatron, Scorponok, Tarantulas, Black Arachnia, Inferno and Terrorsaur (Rescue mission). Then you must choose the level you want to go to. The 4 differnt environments are: Desert (A pretty rocky desert at that!), Urban, Polluted and Volcanic. The graphics are so-so. And the difficulty level (Even while on Easy) is still VERY hard. Much harder the the Sony Playstation's is! I think they needed to through in more variety in the enemies, I have only seen about 5 differnt guys. And what is that thing on the box saying, "Intelligent Enemies" supposed to mean? How are they intelligent? They follow you around and shoot you. WOW, The future is here! There isn't much variety when it comes to weapons either. The weapons are: Your gun. Yup, thats it. Shooting either energy blasts (uhhh....), missile, rockets, shockwaves or smart bombs. Unfortunetly, the game only supports the Microsoft Sidewider game controller. It took me about a week to become adjusted to using the keyboard...
The game looks best with a 3D card, but you don't need one. The game runs slow and choppy with anything less than a 233 MHz. The game is lots of fun in multiplayer mode over the Microsoft Gaming Zone.
Overall, I give this game a C-. Mild recommendation to avoid.
